New Zealand should be the first

About 4 years ago, I guess I should had received my first postcard from my bestie. She’s pursued her master degree at New Zealand. But since she found difficulty to get my address (as she needs to either email or sms or call), she post the Postcard to her house and inform her mother to pass it to me. We are neighbour actually. Our house was just separated by a few house lots only.

But till now I haven’t received anything neither the old one nor the replacement…..
Still hoping…..

I Need Stamp

Hello Tuesday!

The only thing that i planned during lunch break yesterday was to find the nearest post office. Unless he or she who sitting next to my workstation had kept a few stamps in their wallet. (Do they?)

Suddenly an urgent call comes in the morning where by hook or by cook i need to submit the task before lunch. Alas, no lunch at all. I have to drag until 1:30 pm and just having a lite lunch at office pantry.

Its a rare for me to not having extra stamps. The truth is that i used it for my wedding invitation..the very last minute guest added in my list that i had no choice other than grab whatever sources of stamp:-)

Hope to get it by today but... It does not happened and today i'm facing a massive traffic jam.

What is Philately?

I just notice that my national postal service website POS MALAYSIA had published a lots of information other than their services which i think worth to share ~ about PHILATELY.

Philately can be described as the collecting and arranging of postal material i.e. postage stamps, postal routes, letters, covers and other material. This collection, be it stamps, covers etc. are usually documented to trace major historical events and other events.

It cannot be established when philately first started as a hobby as there is no known documentation. However, it can be ascertained that philately only started after the introduction of the postage stamp in 1840.
Collection of stamps adapted an approach with the introduction of stamps album. The first album was produced in England in 1852. Thus, when more postage stamps became available, the hobby of collecting stamps became quite common. More people began to take an interest in stamp collecting and philately began to develop. Many serious collectors emerged and one of the world's largest and oldest stamp collections is owned by the Queen of England. DYTM Raja Muda of Selangor is also reputed to have a good collection.

The word "philately" is said to have been coined in France in 1864 by Georges Herpin. It is from two Greek words: "philos" meaning loving and "llateleiall" meaning free of payment. Originally philately was more confined to the study of labels, representing payment for postal services. From here its area was widened to include the study of the systematic collection of postage stamps, postcards, postal covers, postmarks and other postal material.

Above description was taken from this website. By above definition, shall i consider myself as philatelist?

It's now towards the middle of February 2012 and i think its not too late for me to wish "HAPPY NEW YEAR!!".

This month i bought an air ticket to ____ (you may guess). I am so excited to be there. Looking at new country as well as postcard hunting.
